Default Help with front lowering - Progressive

Hi guys and gals.

I am installing my new front lowering springs and there was no instructin sheet included. I need to know how long the piece of PVC spacer needs to be? I am wanting to lower it 2 inches. I have looked all over the net and at Progressive's site with no luck.

Appriciate any help I can get!

dustmaker - Wish I could help you. I even looked around on the net. Wait until tomorrow and call their tech line. They are excellent to work with. I have called them numerous times trying to decide between the Progressive drop-ins and the race tech lowering kit. Is your kit the drop-in where you don't need to take apart the forks? If so, I'd be interested in how you like the ride.

I did the 2 inch lowering with the kit and i made the spacer using just one of the plastic tubes provided. I'll go out and see if i can find the sheet. I'm thinking an inch and a half for 2 inch lower.

I found a link
http://www.burlybrand.com/literature/index.html go to fork lowering.

The kit made the front feel great. Alot less bouncing in the front. I used heavier fork oil also. Only thing i would have done different is do a 1 inch drop rather than the 2 inch. Looking at it i liked it better when it was lower in the back than in the front, now it is about even. I also have the lowering kit in back so i could lower it more but haven't done it (My longshots show the effects as it is everyone thinks sparks are cool). As it is i should get a shorter kickstand because it can get tippy in crappy parking such as dirt rally parking lot on a hill etc.

progressive springs with 1" drop would be my recommend.

Thanks for the info guys! A guy that works for White Brothers sent me the instruction sheet. Just for the info, I went with the two inch drop, used the heavy weight oil, and cut the pre-load spacers at 2 1/2 inches. I was told to put it all together and add 1/2 inch from the top of the tube.

I will not be riding anytime soon, so I will not be able to report on the difference. The reason, right or wrong, I went with the 2 inch drop is that I am going to a 21 inch front tire/rim. The 21 inch tire is one inch taller than what my 16 inch tire is. So I figured that I really only dropped the front end one inch over all.

Thanks again! I will post a couple pics later tonight!

Whoa, I don’t let any mechanic touch my bike, but that hot blonde in the instructional video can change out my shocks anytime she wants.

Way cool. I'm thinking of lowering the front 2" too but wasn't sure on how to to it. I'm pretty handy with a wrench just need a little guidance. How long does it take to complete the job? How difficult is it? Thanks.

Taking the head light and tank off took longer than actually installing the lowering kit.

On my Heritage you have to pull the forks all of the way out of the triple clamps to change the springs. So I had to remove the fender and wheel along with the head light and gas tank. Nothing hard though, pretty straight forward.

There are a ton of guys here that will giveyou the guidance you need, just ask.
