Cool problem on my way to work

It was about 5:30am crusing at about 30mph,I was on my way to work,as I came up to the light on the corner I put my right turn signal on,at least I thought I did.
I pulled in my clutch and starting down shifting into 2nd gear,as I let out on the clutch the rear of my bike started to slide, I pulled in on the clutch but it was to late so I layed her down.I pushed the shut off button instead of the turn signal,it like all happend in slow motion and I wasn't awake yet.
So what I like to do is put the shut off switch in another place so it does not happen again,in another hour the circumstance would have been different on that highway and wouldn't have been so lucky.
Any suggestions would help.
THANKS MIKE

Ouch, that's a crappy way to lay it down.

I did it once in high school, but it was because a contractor sand blasted the entry gates at school and left the sand there overnight. I came pulling in the next morning and the bike went down quick.

The best suggestion would be to never ride until your mentally prepared, lets be honest, the axis of the switch isn't the same and the switch throw feels completely different. Other than that, its a normal 2 position switch, you could move it anywhere or even hard wire it and just rely on the ignition.

I've had a couple similar things happen to me in the past, not on the bike, though. I just had to chalk it up to not paying attention to what I was doing, a brief mental lapse, or could'nt attribute it to anthing, but being a dumbass.... crap happens. Glad you're OK.
