I dont ever plan on ever taking the power commander off, and since the 06 bikes had the tray, i am contemplating putting the tray in, it would give plenty of room, make it easy to get to and better protect the unit than it would be behind the fender.

Brent

Correction, 05 and earier use the tray from the factory.

Used the lower tray on my 02. Velcroed the pcIII right on top of the ecm. No problem and easy access baby.

Let me know how this works for you. Where do you have plenty of room for a tray? My 07 FXSTC is so stuffed up in there I couldn't fit in a gnat's nut.

I am going to cut the fender out just like an 05 rear fender. then i am gonna install the deep tray from fuel moto. The ecm will bolt right in the tray and the power commander can velcro on top of the ecm. I have a PCv so it is smaller so there should be plenty of room.

If ANubiss could show a pic of his set up it would be great.

I am not worried about cutting the fender, its just metal, it can be fixed.

The PCIII is pain to install. I posted some info with my install a few months ago. In short I had to drop the rear fender, and lower the fuse panel next to the battery in order to get the large connectors in place. Between pipes and intake this was by far the most difficult part of the upgrade. Securing the PCIII behind the mudflap was relatively easy. Just want to make sure it is secure. Oh and loading the maps is very easy. When it's completed you will be grinning from ear to ear from the sound and performance improvement.

azfathog, that's my experience exactly. Right now my battery is stuffed tight in there even after dropping the panel down per instructions. That tight battery is the only downside of all this, and I'm not sure it's even a problem.

Dont know how different yours is than my 08 Deluxe, but my scoot already had a shallow tray in it. I got the deep tray and like Anubisss, I put the PCIII on top of the ECM, easy access and no worries of it coming loose from under the fender or splash guard. I will get some pics if interested....

Use the supplied black zip ties and be sure they thread through the slots in the PCIII, then secure it in there good. You don't want it to vibrate loose. Working up in there is a bit of a pain but you can do it with patience.

Once it's mounted you'll have to get the fat connector back ahead of the fender under the seat. There is an indentation big enough for the wire to come through but not the connector. I had to loosen the fender mounting bolts to do that. It really isn't bad, just do it and don't bother trying to figure out a way to avoid it. The worst part is getting all the wiring jammed down behind the battery. Mine ended up so tight I can hardly get the battery out. So when I replace this battery I'm gonna look for one with a slightly smaller case.

Oh, one last suggestion. Before mounting the PCIII, attach a short mini-USB to USB cable to the PCIII and bring the lead up under the seat where you can get to it. Then cap it and zip tie it out of the way. That way you can load maps any time without having to remove that mud guard to get to the PCIII.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the advice. Installed my PCIII today and even though it was a pain I saved time unbolting the fender. Also installed a set of troublemaker pipes, the neighbors are looking at me funny but the pipes are LOUD. Thanks again.

Allright here are some pict of what i am planning to do. I want to cut out the fender and install tray lust like the 05 Bikes, this tray is deeper than stock it is from fuel moto.

Let me know what you guys think of this, I am doing it becuase this will give plentyof room and there is none now and i dont want to put anything under the fender between the splash gard becuse i ride in alot of fool weather. I will seal the tray in the fender so it should be more out of the elements under the seat.

Opininons sugesstions ridiculs all welcome, sorry for the spelling .
