Default Power commader install

has any one used the bracket to lower the ECM supplied by fuel moto to install their power commander. It seems like a good way to do it but am not sure about cutting the fender. Just seing if anyone has and if they have any pictures.

Thanks

Brent

i guess i am mistaken on something, my ecm is mounted directly to the fender, the tray fuel moto sent me (with no directions) looks like it would fit if you cutout around the ecm that this tray would bolt in its place and recess the ecm about 2 inches giving plenty of room for the PCV, but i guess the tray is actually for models that have the ecm already mounted in a tray not just bolted the fender like my 07 FXSTC.

It sounds like that tray is for a bike with an fl fender. Do not cut anything! Give them a call and ask what it is used for. I am not familiar with Fuel Moto's kits, sorry.

I have used the deep tray and it just fit. I have an 06, not sure about 07 and up, most ppl said it won't fit under the seat.

Yep, that tray is for 06 and older bikes. The ECM is already mounted in a similar tray in the rear fender. The replacement that comes with the PCIII simply replaces the OEM fender. Don't cut your fender, I think it is supposed to mount in front of the mudguard on your year model.

It should be velcroed to the top of the battery or if there is room on the side of the battery. I just looked at the pics last night. Go to their website and it has pics and mounting inst. Fuel moto's webpage here is the link http://www.powercommander.com/downlo.../eng15-004.pdf

Warg is right. I have an 07 FXSTC and I mounted the PCIII from FuelMoto in mine. It mounts to the inside of the fender in front of the plastic mud guard. Use the supplied black zip ties and be sure they thread through the slots in the PCIII, then secure it in there good. You don't want it to vibrate loose. Working up in there is a bit of a pain but you can do it with patience.

Once it's mounted you'll have to get the fat connector back ahead of the fender under the seat. There is an indentation big enough for the wire to come through but not the connector. I had to loosen the fender mounting bolts to do that. It really isn't bad, just do it and don't bother trying to figure out a way to avoid it. The worst part is getting all the wiring jammed down behind the battery. Mine ended up so tight I can hardly get the battery out. So when I replace this battery I'm gonna look for one with a slightly smaller case.

Oh, one last suggestion. Before mounting the PCIII, attach a short mini-USB to USB cable to the PCIII and bring the lead up under the seat where you can get to it. Then cap it and zip tie it out of the way. That way you can load maps any time without having to remove that mud guard to get to the PCIII.
Hope this helps.

the tray is for 06 and lower where there was a cut out instead of it being bolted on...

let me ask you did you go with the new PCV or the old PCIII usb?
cause if your bike is new the power commander 5 will work and a better unit all together only 20 bucks more!!
