I am going to Fl. next week and I was wondering if there are any laws I should be aware of, ie. helmet laws, loud exhaust, etc. Thanks for the help. Dave
As long as you have $10,000 in medical insurance you do not need to wear a helmet in FL. (Don't ask me how they'd ever know.) Also, your license plate should be clearly visible and not installed horizontally. And of course, no wheelies ;-)
Some cities have noise ordinances while others do not. I am not sure what the rules are in Daytona but I'd say for bike week, your safe.
Don't mess with other biker's wives. Don't drink anyone else's beer. Don't sit on a stranger's bike. Don't park on Coates lane or you might never see your bike again.
Sorry, you meant real laws?
Same as anywhere else, act like an a$$hole and they'll treat you like one. Act like a civilized human being and there'll be no trouble. Have fun.
Thanks for the replies, any advice on events I should see or do?
There are all the usual "biker" bars and happenings/swap meets. They're all fun, and all pretty much the same.
I'll suggest three things that you may not know about and might get a kick out of:
1) *******'s Tropical Tattoo Old School bike show. North on US1 from Daytona in Ormond Bch. http://www.tropicaltattoo.com/
2) Jerry Woods Vintage Swap Meet & Auction. In the gym at Stetson College in Deland. Lots of neatold**** http://www.jwoodandcompany.com/
3) Not sure what day they're doing it this year, usually Wednesday. The "Back to the Beach" party and lunch is held at the North Turn Restaurant. Located at the old north turn of the beach course, you can meet and listen a lot of the old timers talk about racing on the beach. Some really funny stories. http://www.cardcow.com/136854/famous...daytona-beach/
Bump!
I am going to Daytona next week also. I would like to hear of some more things to do and some sunshine next Thursday and Friday. That should give me enough time to get to the Sunshine State.....

Correction, they can't be VERTICALLY mounted. Horizontal is what they want, just the way it would be stock.
I know this first hand. We changed one "on the spot".
