As I sit here in lovely Queensland, Australia I can only ponder what it will be like to ride my new softail standard. The bike was ordered in January by a local dealer , was supposed to leave US on the 3rd March and arrive in Australia on the 4th April. Then I was told that it would take about 2 weeks to get from the boat to the dealer and another 3 days to assemble and add the accesories I have ordered vefore I can pick it up. The current situation is that the dealer can not find out if his consignment of bikes has been unloaded in Australia and thus we have no idea on delivery date. What makes it harder is I traded my bike(V-Star) and gave the bike to the dealer approx 6 weeks ago as it was getting a little short on registration. It makes we wonder whether I have been caught up in the restructuring of HD in Aust which apparently occurs in July with HD taking distribution of bikes for the whole of Aust away from a couple of dealers- obviously they will want some stock bikes to start business. Meanwhile I sit here reviewing the HD catalogue for the 1000th time and dream of delivery date.
That's nothing I waited 8 months for mine, a 2006 RK and when it arrived I knocked it back because it was't what I ordered so I took a different colour and a 2005 model.
