Welcome home, and thanks for your service to all of us.

You will love the new Heritage, but you will see that I am slightly biased. I went from a Low Rider to the Heritage without any problems, and am sure that after just a few miles, you will feel at ease.

I too think that you can get a better deal than what you are getting. Check around.

Gift card is good. they can do better than $100 off the first service, and they can def do better than that on the msrp!

Also see if you can get them to waive the "Road Ready Charge" of $1000. that is bull that charge...ok there are taxezs and such in there but all they are doing is charging you an arm and leg for the oil and quick check they do, so work on them about that too.

and remember, be nice and firm, they need you more than you need the,.

P.S. don't worry about the size and weight of the softail...they have great low point of gravity and handle easy, I would not be surprised if you find that it handles as nimble if not more than your shadow
I agree. I just bought a used '08 Deluxe (only 700 miles on it) but before I did I got an estimate on a new '09 Deluxe form my dealer. As soon as he told me the $21000 out the door price I told him I couldn't do more then $19K and he said "We can probably work something out". So I know for a fact that you can get them down a lot off that MSRP and you should get the 1000K mile service thrown in. Good luck. You're going to love the bike. I went with the Deluxe for the lower seat and it's already got over $3K in accessories on it that I would have added anyway.

Welcome home and thank you. I guess you are dealing with Cape Fear HD, the Heritage is a great bike, if I hadn't bought a Fatboy I would probably be on a Heritage, take care!

Don't worry about the size of the bike. I bought my Fattie two years ago having not been on a bike in twenty years, and that was an XB500 Honda while I was stationed at Vandenberg. Within the first ten miles it felt like I'd never stopped riding.

Thanks for all the welcome homes...it's really appreciated. Yes I am dealing with Cape Fear Harley...but I got with the Ray Price Harley guys up in Raleigh and he said he can bring it down at least $500...he will get with his manager and get back with me tomorrow. He said himself that the deal given to me from Cape Fear is actually pretty good...but he can probably do better. As for my unit, I am stationed at Pope AFB N.C. working the might C-130...if there are any other military members around they have ridden one at least once.
