Default Front Brake Bleeding Problems

I need a little help. I'm finishing up installing my 16" apes and i can't get the front brake to bleed. Everything is free flowing up to the master cylinder. I hae gone as far astaking the brake line off to check the flow coming from the master cylinder. I'm just getting a drip. I'm assuming i have a bad master cylinder.

Open the master cylinder lid, wrap a bungee cord around the brake lever against the bar. Leave it overnight.

What purpose does this serve? Like, what's the technical aspect to it?

It's call "gravity bleeding" and it usually does the trick.

Default brake bleeding

Bleed it from the master cylinder not the bleeder screw on the caliper.

I just did a handle bar change out with Wild1 chubby 18's and fought with the same thing.
A buddy of mine told me to bleed from the master cylinder at the banjo fitting...believe me it works.....
