I would like to put some extended (stretched) hard bags on my custom (softail frame). Anyone know of a bracket system for this application or do I need to custom fab them?
The only production mounts that I can think of for installing FL style hard bags on a softail are the Cyle Visions setup. Not sure if they will work for extended bags?
i had cycle vision brackets and ultra bags set up on my fatboy last year. brackets are a nice design. hard bags do take more forward space. kinda tight for the passenger but not bad. i ended up selling the whole set-up. brackets & vivid black bags for $800. no locks. i have several good pics of the whole set-up from when i sold them if you'd like to see. pm me your e-mail. they are too large for the forum. there is also a guy in my area that has stretched hard bags. ken stenrod. he built the arlen ness bike featured at the cincinatti show. his website is PIMPMYBAGGER.COM hope this helps, steve
i dont belive you can run bag extensions without doing some modification to the extention. i just put the sumax bracket kit on my 05 they work well. i to was looking to put some extentions on my bike to bring the bags lower to the ground. here are pics of mine now.
as you can see in the pic above you will need to put new fender struts on your bike, also if you want to run extended bags you will have to change your pipes. your axle mount licence plate wont work either.
the cycle vision kit does not require any modifying of your bike unless it is in the way of the bags.
I just got my fatboy ready for the cycle vision kit and will be ordering it with some new hard bags next month, did the homework and seems to be the best kit all around.
