You do realize it's made of a material the will take dye, cotton , I think. You can make it any colour you choose, but the k&n oil will still be red. May not show up much with a black dyed element though. Clothing or craft stores may have the dyes.

I've had K&N on my trucks before. It never occured to me to die the filter element. I think I'll try that. What the heck, if it turns out terrible I can always get another.
If you do end up dying it black let me know how it turns out. Im putting my black SE HB on as soon as my power commander gets here. Hopfully tomorrow and I have been looking for a black filter also.
if you let it get dirty enough it will turn black. Mine did. I think you can mix of some black die and that should do it. you will need to get some clear oil for it
