I need the torque specs for the passenger footpeg support to frame on 2000-2006 Softails on the muffler side.
Currently there is a torx head 3/8 X 1 3/4 inch bolt that holds the footpeg support to the frame. I have just released my Premier boot guard for the 2000-2006 softails, and I have added a required 1 inch spacer for behind the foot peg support and included an inch longer bolt so that the guard will fit next to the pipes on the older fatboy and deuce. As you know, on the older bikes with the muffler above the passenger's footpeg, the footpeg will not even fold up without resting against the hot upper muffler. Anyway.. I need the torque specs so I can include them in my product instructions. I could not find them in the torque booklet you can get from Harley.
If you have a softail and the passenger is melting their boots on your pipes, please check out my website at www.bitchin-guard.com
Thanks in advance, I know someone in this forum will get me the numbers.
nice product,my girl was melting her boot on that side untill I put the Big Radius 2+2 on ..but none the less they are very sharp looking and look like they should be factory installed..my softtail service manual doesn't give the specs either, someone should know..sometimes when I need to know I will set my torque wrench or inch pound wrench to loosen and start low to see when it breaks free..I raise in incriments of 1-2 ft-lbs or in-lbs at a time..thats one way..good luck..
Thanks for the info, I will be spending the rest of the day putting my instruction page together. After I designed this product for my fatboy, I also went to the V&H big radius. I have the guards designed for them and the twin radius and the short and long shots. I just haven't put them into production yet.
