Hey guys, I just bought a new pair of Mid West grips for my 07 FXSTC. I went to put them on last night and the leftt side went on no problem. My question is about the right side, is the stock grip molded to the throttle sleeve? I could not seperate the two. I ended up using a razor blade and peeling the grip off of the sleeve. The new grip slid on ( with some work) and everything seems good. Is this right?
If the grip didn't come with the sleeve then I can't see how you could do it any other way.
Most seem to come with the sleeve, which can be a PITA because you have to dismantle the entire brake/throttle assembly to put them on.
Taking it apart isn't a big deal, but its fairly common for people to have the little brass ends on the cables fall off to do the kind of disappearing act that should only be allowed on a Vegas or Atlantic City Casino stage.
Then putting things together there is little flat spring and the brake switch button that can be a pain to get reinstalled properly.
All told I think you got off easy doing it the way you did.
It is funny how thoses little brass ends fall down into the switch houseing and are a real PITA to get out!!
I think most of the time they like to jump out of the housing and make their break for freedom into the nearest pile of loose parts or junk.
I have often wondered if there was not some kind of supernatural or magnetic properties to the floor drain in my garage. It seems to have some kind of unholy attraction for any kind of small part or screw that gets dropped in there.
But I fixed it good, last time that happened with a screw. I put a piece of window screen under the drain cover. Now I know exactly where to look for anything small that gets dropped and seems to do a Houdini on me.

Now that is smart if only i had a drain in my garage so that I could do that too
LOL
the other day I found a few little things had some how managed to creep their way to the back of an old fridge and where clinging for their lives to the motor back there
