I agree with you. Don't think I will be using them together either but I can use the roll for carrying light loads. I'm thinking if I need to use both, I'm packing too much

http://www.tbags.com/detail.aspx?ID=18&SelectedCat=4 This is the one that I have, and I love it. It's made a couple of trips to the ROT Rally, and Bikes, Blues, and BBQ. I have not had an issue with using the roll top bag on top. Just make sure that it's down tight enough.
