Some versions require connecting the grey wire from the speedo to the kit so that you don't have a continual low fuel indicator on the 'dash'.
You might be able to pull the wires from those Delphi connectors using a 'gentle' touch but I would bet that it would take more luck than careful handling to not ruin the connector's ability to hold the new connections under road vibration, etc. These pins work on a 'chinese finger trap' principal so that when they are inserted they won't come back out. You should use a special tool to insert in the Delphi connector that lets the pin come out freely.
One thing to note that if you do need to remove the tank, you just need to unbolt the tank and slide it backwards (towards the seat). You do not need to unhook the tank completely. Just remember to cover the cylinder heads with something to avoid them from getting scratched.
You forgot one VERY important step. DISCONNECT THE FUEL LINE FIRST any time you move the tank or you WILL break it and no one likes to have to pay $50 for a new line for a stupid mistake.
If you would like to post that in the DIY Cheap thread, go for it. I know its NOT cheap, but it is a DIY and there are an awful lot of guys looking for exactly that kind of info. If its there at least it will be handy to find and link to later.
I'll add a note to it later stating that I asked you to do it so you don't get a bunch of crap for putting it in thre.
But I will ask you to do it with bigger pics the way anubiss told you about.
Those little thumbnails are nice, but bigger pics are much better.
I also want to add the black set to my 07 train but the HD catalog states they are for 08 and up. They have a chorme set for 07 but not in black, WTF! Dosn't the factory know that black is the new chorme. Anyone know what the difference is and can I still make it work?
That is my next mod on my 09 Heritage I hope I can get to the wires without lifting the tank ! How accurate is the gauge a friend of mine has one on his Roadking Screaming eagle and he says when ever just 2 lights are showing he has to find a gas station quick!
