Default Seat Change

Hi all,
This is my first posting on this forum and hope you will help me out.
October 07 I bought an Anniversary Fat Boy and love it.
Great for riding locally for 50 to 75 miles but after that it gets real uncomfortable where I am sat, numb is a better word
The seat is too hard............. any one else suffered this and what is the general thinking, replace with another make, get this on re upholstered or what
I want to ride from Oxford, UK to Athens, Greece later this year and its a non starter until I can get this sorted

Thanks all

the gel seats are really nice and more comfy for long rides .... most shops that can recover your seat can add these in and still use your stock cover and pan ... they simply cut a hole in your existing foam to add the gel into and then put your cover back on over it ... good luck

I bought the $500 seat HD offers that has the removeable driver backrest and has a nice 14" wide passenger seat. I love the backrest as my back is trash after about 75 miles without. It sits lower but narrows in the crotch area. Find myself adjusting the package a little too often
As far comfort, it bought me another 25-30 miles but I still have to get off the bike every 100 miles or so.
They need to make a messaging seat that constantly changes the pressure points....wish I was an inventor.

Thanks for all your ideas so far, keep them coming

I guess 100 to 125 miles is what I'm looking for, so about 2 - 2.5 hours before a refreshment break
We will need to cover 250 - 300 a day on the trip

My mate just phoned me and he has it on good authority that a Sundowner seat in the Harley custom catalogue is meant to be the answer.

Any thoughts on these seats

I sent my stock seat (I like the look of it) to Mean City Cycles (a sponsor of this site) and had it re-formed using memory foam. Big difference! Feels like you are more "in" the seat, rather than "on" it. No more "butt burn". For about a third of the price of a new one, and if you like the stock seats look, you can't beat it. They also do gel inserts, too, with the memory foam for the bigger dudes.Check 'em out, lots of good reviews, and a quick turn-around. Very pleased.

I bought the 17.5 inch with driver backrest from Mustang Seats. Best decision i ever made regarding the comfort on my bike. With the previous seat, like you, at 50-60 miles it got really uncomfortable. Now i can ride all day with no issues.

I tried a couple of HD seats and a Corbin and was not comfortable until I bought a C & C Seat. www.ccseats.com I now have their Fastback Saet and can easily go a tank of gas (185 mi) with out stopping and have ridden close to 600 miles in a day with no discomfort.

But seats are very subjective on this forum, some love one some hate the same seat. Unfortunatly you need to try them out to be sure.
