Hi,
First Harley, am getting use to all the noises. However, sometimes when I downshift like when you are stopping at a red light I get a big clank from the tranny..Is this normal...It's like when I shift to 2d or 1st gear. Thanks for the advice
And different fluids had no effect on it. Would be interested in knowing the mechanism behind it since it's very unpredictable and there doesn't seem to be any way to anticipate or prevent it. Same thing with the occassional grinding when downshifiting.
whew... I always wondered but was afraid to ask the question (lol).
SOMETIMES when I'm stopped and think I have it in first, and when the light turns green, I take off and almost immediately realize it's in 2nd. Is that common too? I know I'm opening myself up here for some good natured ribbing (lol) but I'm serious. It doesn't happen a lot and some of those times I know it just me not making sure it's actually in 1st. But some of those times I swear it jumps into 2nd on it's own. Anyone else experience anything like that? I've been told that it's not right and I've been told that it's a Harley and it's normal?
i use bel ray in mine. Didn't do much for the down shift like your talking about. I just down shift to 3rd and Unless i have to move out i bring it to almost a stop before i gear to 2nd or 1st. That bang has got to be doing something in there and it can't be good.
I run the oil in the engine but use Bel ray for the trans and no wine or clank and I can find neutral. I use Motor FactoryŽ Primary Case Lube in the primary. because Amsoil has gone up so much I just switched to Mobil 1 for vtwin and it works as good. I have 30,000 miles in about 1.5 years and it runs great and no debris in the oil changes. http://www.belray.com/consumer/product.fsp?pid=13637 http://www.customchrome.com/dcm/cc/view.asp?mfoil.html
The bel ray i used is not the same as most people use. check the link.
