I understand the "theory" of running a tire low. You see it alot with "stunters" doing wheelies. However, running a tire low in other situations is dangerous and affects the bikes handling. Every tire has a cold air pressure amount stamped on the sidewall.

Low pressure does lots of bad stuff; distorts the tread pattern, causes excessive heat in the tire, premature and uneven wear , and other stuff including handling problems. But where do you get 40 for the front Metz on an FX, when the book says 30? Why is 30 low for a Metz but not on a Dunlop? In cars we use the sticker on the door, not the numbers on the sidewall.

+1 That didn't make sense to me either. A MH90-21 should still be the same pressure no matter who makes the tire.

Default fatboy pressures

08 fatboy - 38 front and rear on original dunlops - book says 36 for both but I find the front doesn't feel right at low speeds at that pressure. I'm 120KG and the stock bike/tyre set up is for an 80KG rider so I reckon its much like when you up the pressures on a car that has a full load!?
