Default stupid fork question

hey all i have a question on switching lower legs on my bike, THIS MAY BE A VERY DUMB QUESTION TO SOME PEOPLE. ok so i have a 2005 softail standard, i have put the klock werks benchmark front fender on and now i want to lower the fender closer to the tire without drilling more holes. so i was wanting to swap the lower legs off my fx front end for some off a heritage or fat boy, is this possible? i was going to use shock boots to cover where the chrome covers go on the new lower legs to cover the gap.

It is probably easier to just drill some new mounting holes for the fender. If the bike is an FXST it will ahve different forks, however if it is an flst it would be possible. Still, the simplest way to accomplish your goal is to redrill the fender. Cover it with tape prior to drilling to minimize paint chipping. Measure carefully so it is even on both sides.

Just remember is your lowering the stock fender the mounting tabs are going to be pulled out and your going to need spacers to make it sit right. I lowered mine 3/4 of an inch, but the tire hit fender so I had to put 1/4 inch spacers to make it sit right.
