I only ask because I cant afford a service manual until next payday and I need to bolt something on to this bolt on my Heritage. Last time I removed a fender bolt, a support fell off from behind the fender.
My question ...
Am I safe removing only the shown strut bolt without any supports falling off from behind the fender? (see pic for detail) I just want to remove and replace. Thanks!
Don't know.... but can you fit your hand up inside the fender and feel for the bracket?
on my XB there is a support bracket back there... you can take one bolt out with no issues...
Yeah, can quite get my hand up there ...I'm sure there is a bracket there but was hoping it was shared by a couple of bolts, so If I removed just that one would be ok, but dunno. ...and dont want to find out the hard way, no lift.
Last time teh bracket fell out I was barely able to get my hand up there to support it, dont think I'll be that lucky if it happens again.
I'm pretty sure you're OK removing just that one bolt, but to be safe, I think you can remove your ECU and ECU tray from your fender to gain easier access behind/under your fender.
I was looking at that, looks like there is a plastic push bolt (don't know technical name for it) in the upper middle of the tray, going into the fender. Am I safe just popping that thing off with a screwdriver? I'm trying to be careful not to bust anything. I did give it a bit of pressure but it didn't want to come off easily.
From what I recall, when installing the ez brakets i removed one bolt at a time and nothing fell off inside the fender well. But, the bolts i removed were not the bolt you are looking at. Sorry, not a perfect answer...
Hellfish, you can pop that little plastic (pin) piece out and get right to the nut inside the fender. You do have to pry a little, but when she comes loose it will be flying across the room....lol Don't ask how I know.
