Default Considering a second scoot.. input needed!!

Well, just so happen I talked to a older gentleman who has a 98' FLSTS Black with Red inset. It's got 2K miles on it. He's also got a Road King and Wide Glide. Guess he's ready to deplete some of his toys. I guess it's probably a gem from the way he was talking. Haven't seen pics or the bike yet. Waiting for him to get back to me. He had no idea what he would ask for this bike.

What are prices going for these days for this baby?

Also, in the event if this fellow gets cold feet and decides not to sell,
1. am I better off with a 2000?
2. does the counter-balance make that much of difference in vibration?
3. More ponies with TwinCam 88 which will pull better, or is it true that the EVO will live longer and sound better?
4. And all the other re-design that occurred... frame, ignition to single-fire, brake caliper, and little things like integrated fork lock

I think I'm talking myself out of the 98'..eeeeeee

10 year old bike with only 2K miles on it? That's been sitting a lot. You'll definetly get more of what you're looking for from a newer bike. However, this bike sounds nice if he discounts it enough.

I'm a member of the Heritage Springer Owner's Association (even though I sold my HS almost a year and a half ago). They are GREAT bikes! One of the members of our group has a black/red '98 and JUST BOUGHT ANOTHER ONE! Black/red also!

I have an 08 Deluxe and a 97 Heritage Springer. Different rides. Footboards on the Deluxe seem to be wider and brake pedal further forward. EVO's vibrate, but mine is a carbed model and you can't beat the sound. 96 inch definitely faster. Bottom line, Springer's are collectibles and will remain so. I think my Deluxe looks pretty sharp, but I get ten times the looks at the Springer. If I were you I'd buy the Springer.

He actually asked me why would I want a Heritage when I already have similar. I replied "wanted a springer since 1969, when I had my first hog". Just couldn;t afford putting a springer front-end on it.
Hopefully, I can latch on to it at a descent $$$..

Good luck. I've always had a sweet spot for springers. Had one as a kid and wish I still did. I've often contemplated switching my forks out.

love the look of springers, I might even thing of one if the price was right, It dont take much to make an EVO match the perf. of a twim cam......and the sound is old school...

If it came down that I had to choose between an EVO or TwinCam, which would I pick? I love my Deluxe and understand EFI. Would be interesting in taking an EVO and matching performance to what I have now...
