Well i heard about a download for my 08 nightrain called direct download and i found out that they aint that great. So Does any body recommend what download to get? Harley/Screaming Eagle, Vance & Hines Etc. Any help is appreciated?
The dealer down load should be fine if you just do a air cleaner and pipes. A little better option is the V&H Fuelpak. If you plan on doing cams you would be wise to look at a Power Commander but you need a computer to set it up. There are alot of other options out there but none as easy to set up as the Fuelpak.
Ok well i have V&h pipes now and fixing to order the s&s tuned induction air cleaner. Is the Fuel Pak a safe effecient way to go? Do i have to take the bike in the install it or could i do it? thks Lucky
Hi
My friend's 07 RK has V&H slip on mufflers and he went for the free flow AC and V&H fuel pack- no issues runs great.
If you were looking for more- I went for ThunderMax with auto tune as I knew I was not going to leave the engine stock... more smile per mile with cams, a D&D fatcat, and then a 103 build.... but that's me.
I would not do the Dealer Download it is still EPA compliant and will do very little for performance. In fact American Iron Mag had a series of articles last year and found that most HDs did not need the Stage 1 down load with the addition of just A/C and Pipes. But if you want it to run cooler and stronger if you are planning on not doing anything other than the A/C and Pipes just get a Fuelpak they are easy to install and program and will add fuel to richen it up and improve performance and cool the bike down and they can be purchased for around $ 200.00 which is close toi what a download will run. If you are planing more mods in the future like big bore, cams and heads than get a Power Commander, T max, SERT ect to give you the ability to tune as needed.
