anyone using a leaded fuel additive in their
fuel injected/02sensored harleys ?
ive ran 2 tank fulls and have had no probs
but do have an increased throttle response
and tad bit more power. im more concerned with
the lead adding a buffer or lubricant to the valve
seats to compensate for the extra lean burn engines
i currently run the cobra fi200r with no problems
stage 1 ac and vance hines staggered duals
don't run that gas through your bike, get rid of the cobra system and install a S.E. Super tuner, have it dynoed out and you will notice a hell of and increase in run ability and power. the leaded gas is totally unnecessary.
there are fuel additives for FI engines that are ok for o2 bikes. they are to be used when you can only find regular or mid grade at the pump. about $6 a tank
A+ with everyone so far. You are correct regarding the purpose of lead in the gas but not in it's application: the lead additives were sold (are??) for the older engines designed for leaded gas but using unleaded that did not have coated valve seats and faces for sealing, lubrication, and impact dampening to compensate for this loss until the owner could upgrade to stellite-coated valves. Todays valves do not require this additive and, as some have stated, you can actually damage engine components plus messing up my air, too. A+ on the dyno for AFR tuning for leaness.
