I have the NEXL and got it at J and P cycle. The big negative is the shipping charge from these guys, it is a rip off, but the helmet is a good one. Quick release on the chin strap and sized up to Double XL. I have the flat black and don't feel like I have mushroom head in it. Let us know what you choose.

The ACC is amazingly small for a DOT and light. I love mine. They will give 10% if you mention hdforums.

Ok, I'm going to get the ACC...problem being they only have 2 dealers in Canada. So I have to order from the other side of the country and am being ripped off with the price......oh well guess I will have to eat this one. Anyone have the Flat black one? How does it look?

Thanks for all the info guys, you were all a real help!

my bro found out the same thing. The place in BC is ripping you off. He found it was cheaper to order direct from acc.

Wow, I didn't even know that there were such small helmets out there. My wife and I bought HD helmets when we bought the bike. I can see what you mean by mushroom head. They are heavy and not very comfortable and needless to say are not doing anybody any good just sitting on the shelf. This is what is so great about this forum, I keep learning a ton. Now, it's off to check out some helmets that I will actually wear.

Haksaw,

good call. I called ACC and they will sell and ship up here. The palce in BC wanted $269 each plus taxes plus shiping on top of that. They have stock, but that is just crazy.......I can wait to 4 week or what ever that is.....that extra money is going to my wheels and swing arm!

I'm going to take kechour's advise and try and get an extra 10%, least that will cover shipping!

Thanks again for the info everyone!!

I just ordered the extended half helmet from ACC. They are very helpfull. She told me that the novelty helmet passes all the DOT tests exept the piercing test. Basicly they drop a steel spear from 10ft above the helmet. She said the owner wears the novelty one and it is the best seller. Anyway, I got the 10% off and the total with shipping was $118.
Thanks for all the info guys-

I ordered the dot carbon fiber last winter. Didn't like it too much when it arrived and sent it back for an exchange for their non-dot. Love the non-dot. I can't say how well it will protect my head if needed but I can say it is MUCH better constructed then most novelty skid lids. I feel pretty good about having some real protection with it and like I said it is really low profile and well made.

Coaster,
What is the difference between their DOT and non-DOT helmets. I looked at the website and they look pretty similar. Is it the looks, size, weight or other?
