I did some search's before I posted this question, but not sure if I got the answer I was looking for. I have a 2008 Heritage Classic and I want to mount a set of Easy Brackets on the stock saddlebags for easy removal. My question is in reference to the lower saddlebag support bar that runs from the bag to the passenger peg. Does the support bar need to remain or is the support bar removed after the Easy Bracket system is installed. I have put a set of plastic inserts into the saddle back to keep the bags from collapsing which gives the bags some extra support in the lid and around the bags, but the inserts does not include the side of the bag close to the bike.
I don't want to install a quick release system if the support bar has to remain, since that would not make it an easy removal system. The bags are the stock HD studded Heritage Classic Bags.
I removed that bracket on my Deluxe bags....no problems. I spoke with the dealer and a few of my long time riding buddies...all of them said the bracker isn't needed...just don't overload the bags...I've been told 15lbs of stuff in each bag is fine without the brackert.
I've been told the same thing. The lower support bar in not required, just don't overload the bags. I too am about to order the easy brackets. We have the same bike less yours in the anniversary special. I just received an email from them Saturday clerifying that I am ordering the right setup as I have the HD quick release system for my passenger backrest. They gave me part number HRT-R3DB for my bike with my HD quick release backrest installed. I plan to get mine ordered sometime this week....

Clay
Clay, did you get the easy brackets installed. Mine came today, and the instructions are a little vague, but I will probably install them tomorrow night. Just wondering if you got yours and installed them. Any tips appreceiated.
Didn't get them ordered yet. Bought a few other chrome things. New highway pegs & handle bar grips too. Next thing to purchase however will be my easy brackets. Did you get them installed? Before & after pics with & without the bags?
If you do install the easy brackets, can you post some pics of them? I'd like to see how far off the bike the bags sit. I had ordered Barebacks for my Deluxe but decided not to use them. With the detachable sissy bar hardware, the bags sat too far off the bike and it looked ridiculous. So now I have a pair of unused Barebacks laying around...curious to see the easy brackets. Thank you.

I will try and post some pics tomorrow, but they only moved the bags out about 1" (inch) on each side of the bike. It is not that noticable. On another note, when I got the brackets the right one installed per the instructions. The bracket on the left did not fit correctly. I send an email and a couple of pictures to easy bracket support, and they determined that the left bracket did not have the proper 15 degree angle and put a new left bracket in the mail the next day (without getting the wrong one back). I mention this because I found their customer support to be very good. The wrong angle will not affect the photos, it deals with the space between the bracket and the bag.
They look great and not it just take a second to get to my back wheel to clean or check the tire pressue. Again, I will post tomorrow.
Here are some pictures of the Easy Brackets that I have installed on my '08 FLSTC. I have more if you want and I also included a photo of the Easy Tote that ties the bags together off the bag for ease of tranport. The hardware is very nice with the bags off. I have some photos of the clearance from the bags to the pipes, but there is about 1 1/2" above the pipes.
