Hooker Rebels bluing
I installed my Hookers not to long ago and loved them. I took a road trip to Wash DC about 600 miles round trip. When I got home I noticed by pipes are bluing mid way on the upper pipe. I am so mad, what causes bluing?
Heat, state of tune, idleing for long periods of time......I think that most pipes will blue over time. There are a few products that you can put in "new" pipes to control bluing to a certain extent, also you can get them ceramic coated inside. It could be quite expensive if they have to clean them(inside),if they even can do it.
You might have to get header pipe heat shields to cover the blueing if Hooker has them.
I tried to help, maybe others have more for you......good luck. Capt.

Impossible to prevent as far as I've been trying through several sets of pipes. That's why many maufacturers are now doing full coverage heat shields that look like the pipes. Happened to my other bike with two different brands and I hated it too.

I do not have a fuel management computer. From what I read on this forum, if I only changed my exhaust I wouldnt need a computer, obviously that is false. What is to lean, not enough fuel? Would that cause popping on deceleration? And yes, I did run in bumper to bumper traffic. I am going to buy a PC III.
