springer bars question
Its my first question on here....by the way. Thanks for any help, Jim
I had Wild One Chubby 12.5's on my stock Springer risers (Pics attached). For relevance of the pic, I also have a 3" tank lift. That changes the overall look a little.
While you have things apart, definitely consider swapping OEM bushings for some poly bushings. Even if you go with shorter risers, the net effect of riser plus bars will be higher than stock and you'll feel the flex of the OEM bushings.

Thanks for the replys guys. My bars are already solid mounted (if thats the right term). I'm the third owner and I believe the first already did the change. I can really feel the numbness in my hands on long rides. I'm getting ready to change the bars and was planning on seeing what he did to mount them solid like that. I think I get what you guys are saying that the taller bars will really move alot with the original rubber mounting so thanks for pointing that out because I bet I would have switched it back to rubber mount.
I know someone that has mini apes and it does, also like in you picture, look great from the side but it doesn't look right "to me", when you look at it from the front. If I dropped it down a little with the different risers I think i will like it better.
I resubbmitted my account here on HDforums because I forgot my old user name and password. I haven't been on here in a couple years and never really, if ever posted a topic. I may have replyed to some though. I was taken out by a cellphone driver last year and only got to ride that one day for the season. A few parts are damaged and was hoping to be able to post so parts wanted in the parts section just to get back on the road.
I found out I have to be on here for 30 day befor I can post topics in the classified section so it looks like i'll be buying new parts, I'm not waiting a month.
I need a new front master and figured if Im buying ned I'm gonna buy chrome and get the full set for the bars. You mentioned Custom Chrome, Thats the set im looking at. Would you say those are quality parts? The set including switch covers are 150.00 shipped. I that the going price? It sounds fair to me.
I want signals like the ones on you bike and get them off the bars with my new changes but I don't know who makes them. I also need them to fit with the detachable back rest. I don't like the "big" signals on the bars and I never liked the relocating brackes I have to use for the rear lights. With the front one scratched and the back one shattered now is the time to change them since I cant get good used ones off of this site. I have bought from J&P Cycles and Fog Hollow so they are the companies I was going to check with.
Im finding most things I need and reasonably priced. Check out this find: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=180337659357
This is the side that was dented by my knee getting caught between it and the guys mini van. Wow!
Heres the short damage report to anyone interested: Right side tank, front Master and brake line broke, Drag pipes dented/scatched, rear master broke, mirror broke(found Identicle set), rear signal, scratch on front fender(touch up for now), rear fender scratch(same T. Up), Bars road-rash, s&s air cleaner(found another)
Does any one know where I can go to buy a rear mates besides a dealer? They want 75 and I figured if I can get a chrome one for about the same I'd do that. I'd even take a cheaper black one or used.
Sorry for rambleing but please note, your replys are not wasted. I'm mostly a car guy and even though I've had my 93 for many years I still know very little about modifying it. I have done some but I'd do more if i knew more. Eventually I hope to replace all of my cover chrome to real chrome parts like the inner primary the pully cover and a get real swing arm, Jim
Heres a pick before the damage.

Check out the Springer picture thread. It is a long thread, but there is a ton of information shared about modifying them. The last couple of pages includes some discussion about turn signal relocation.
