Best = Air Ride system.
Better = Progressive 422 shock kit
OK = Ultima adjustable shock kit
Ummmm = Lowered stiff and riding rough El-Cheapo bolt kit.
Me? El Cheapo bolt kit complete with Kidney pain and lovin' every minute of it!!
Has anyone went with the Ultima kit? Better yet, has anyone felt the difference in the Progressive and Ultima's. I know quality will probably be much better in the Progressive however will the ride really be that much better ($200-300 better). I was set on the Progressive but now that I found out about the Ultima they are closer to reach of getting.
I have herd the 422's ride like crap when slammed all the way lowered. they have the same set up adj bolts. if thats the case why bother just buy the studs....
Does anyone know if I will need a new kickstand if I just drop the back?
Was suggested to me by the dealer after I lowered my Rocker 2" that I should get a different kickstand...it does work but my bike is more straight up than it was before...arlen ness offers one part # 11-021...but I've been waiting for back order on that part since last september and as of yesterday they still don't have it in stock...so if someone else makes one I would like to know

I've got the Ultima's on the back of mine. I figured for $125 shipped I'd try them out.
So far I've been pleased with them. I've got them dropped all the way down, and the preload fully softened. I'm around 170# and the ride is really good and easy on the back. I'm probably gonna stiffen the preload and see how I like that.
The kickstand on my Deluxe was already 1" under from the factory. With the bike lowered another 1" in back and 2" up front the bike stood really upright. I removed the kickstand and bent it in a 500 ton hydraulic brake press, right at the first bend. It's hard to find a 2" under kickstand.
Lowered mine almost 2" with Harley's aftermarket shocks and Arlen Ness bolts. The preload needs to be adjusted a bit, but otherwise, I love it.
I will agree with this guy. I have the same set up and preload is adjusted all the way. NO bottom outs at all. Im 220lbs and ride is great. Without adjustment ride was horrible. If i hit a ant on the road i would bottom out.

I've only bottomed out once or twice on some hard hits, but my *** end feels like it's floating. I'm gonna stiffen it up a bit and try to keep it just a tad softer than stock.
My buddy is ~250# and damn near makes my pipes scrape just sitting on it.

Good idea! We have a 300ton at work, I spose that'll do it. lol
and so do you guys just have different shocks or do you still have to buy lowering bolts?

i just had the progressives 422 installed on my fatboy and did the front springs at the same time. when they did the install, the front springs i ordered were 1.5 inches shorter, the rear shocks when they installed them, they set it at 1.25 inch drop, they felt after riding the bike this had the best geometry, i have to say after riding the bike as i just got it back, it is like night and day, they also changed the oil in the front springs. the bike is nice and solid without being too stiff or hard. I weigh 185.
