So far I've been pleased with them. I've got them dropped all the way down, and the preload fully softened. I'm around 170# and the ride is really good and easy on the back. I'm probably gonna stiffen the preload and see how I like that.

The kickstand on my Deluxe was already 1" under from the factory. With the bike lowered another 1" in back and 2" up front the bike stood really upright. I removed the kickstand and bent it in a 500 ton hydraulic brake press, right at the first bend. It's hard to find a 2" under kickstand.

So, I'm a newbie when it comes to this but how do you adjust the preload softer or stiffer? Can you only do with with adjustable shocks? If anyone can show pictures I would appreciate it. I am fixing to attempt to install either the progressives or the ultima's (with a friends help of course) to save some money but with all of this adjusting it kind of makes me scared. If anyone has any insight or suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

do it right and go with the Progressive 422 shocks. If cash is an issue wait until you can afford it. It will be worth it for a lowered still comfortable ride.
