speedo/tach combo
Most places list them for around $500 but I got mine on eBay for $398 with free shipping. Cool looking speedo with some neat options!

J/K, but if anyone else is interested in digital speedo's there are three out that I know of, there may be more, but I don't know of any others.
Does anyone know of any others?
The Dakota Digital is that blue/green color I'm not real fond of, but that's just my opinion. Other people seem to like it a lot.
For those of you who don't know about them, or have never seen one before, the Dakota Digital looks like this.

Then there is the Zippers that comes in a red/yellow color with a lot of the same functions for about $450.
I think it would look really nice on a red or black bike. It doesn't have a gear indicator, but does have a programmable shift light.

Then there is the Kuryakyn that's a little different, but it gives you the advantage of having a matching gas/battery and gas cap if you like.
The speedo lists for about $450 with another $125 for the matching gas gauge and fuel cap setup.
Unlike the Harley flush mount gas gauge, I don't remember hearing about anyone having trouble with the LED's in it.

If I was in the market for one of them, the Kuryakyn with its matching fuel/battery setup would be very appealing. The Gas cap also needs a 'key' of sorts to open it.
But leaves a ring around the hole when its open that should be nice for protecting the tank paint from the gas pump nozzle and spills.
And I like the way it changes color as you get up near the red line on the tach.
But the Zippers unit uses a line of LED's that run around the top 2/3rd's of the gage that should be fairly easy to read at a glance without really have to look at it and a programable
You just have to wonder how well any of them work under bright sunlight conditions.
PS. While the Kuryakyn and Dakota Digital have gear indicators in them.
There are no position sensors other than the sixth gear sensor in the tranny on newer (07 and up) bikes.
So they cheat and use the speedo's internal microcomputer to do a little math on the side.
When you program the unit it notes the ratio of speed vs. the engine rpm's in each gear.
Then it remembers those ratio numbers and uses them to do a little simple arithmetic to continuously calculate which gear your should be in.
