After about 800 mi on my 09 FXSTC the back brake squeals when im on it
Then from about 5mph to a stop there is this some what of a loud harmonic noise that I just hate. So to keep that from happening I let off the back brake and just use the front to slow to a stop. I had it at the shop for the 1000mi Svc and told them about it and they said its been a problem with this model that I would have to change the pads to MAYBE get it to stop. Not real happy with there answer!!! Anybody else have this issue or a fix??
Thanks
My 06 started doing the same thing then just recently stopped. I would tap the rear brake when it started making the noise and that seemed to stop it for awhile.
Had the same problem with my front brake. Change to a softer pad and it helped. I put a floating rotor on a couple summers back and haven't heard much sqeaking at all.
This is some what normal , the dust and drit may be the prob......it will work it's self out. Try tapping the rear brakes for time to time, this should help.
I think we're all missing an opportunity here. We need to embrace the theory that "squealing brakes save lives" - then we could all just live with it as though it serves a purpose. The rear brake on my Ultra squeals so bad it's freekin embarrassing when I roll to a stop in traffic - but NOBODY doesn't notice me.
