Default Options for a tall guy

Hi,

I'm ridding a 99 FXSTC that is pretty much stock. At 6'3", 230lbs the bike is a little low/small for me, atleast as far as my legs go.

I know I can get extensions for the foot contols. Can I get ones that are a little lower as well as extended - (suggestions?)

Can I get a higher seat and/or raise the suspension?-(any suggestions).

It does not effect my ride but eveyone I know says "man-you gotta get a bigger bike"...LOL I didn't think they made them much bigger..

Thanks
Doug

I am 6' 4" and 240. I like forward controls, low profile seat and apes.

La Pera bare bones seat, 3" extended controls, drag bars or apes and you will be golden.

The seat is critical in the equation.

3" control extensions plus forward controls. I'm nearly 5" further forward from the stock location. Big difference. Street Slammer bars, and a Sundowner seat, and I'm comfortable on all day rides.

I'm 6'6" and have an FXSTC. I put on the Ness 3" extensions, which helped a lot, but the big difference was the Kuryakyn Swingwing foot pegs. they swing up and out which gives me a highway peg stretch when I need it....wow what a difference.

What is the difference between forward controls and just getting extensions? I guess I need some education here, I'm new at this.

A low profile seat was mentioned, wouldn't that bring me closer to the pegs and make it worse?

Thanks,
Doug

The seat can go either way. A tallboy can move you up and back, a low profile seat like the sidekick will sit you lower but distinctly further back. (looks better too I think) I also have the HD 3 inch extensions, and added a Kuryakyn peg extender mounted to extend and lower the pegs an additional inch. At 6'5" lowering them really helped a lot.

In the picture below, you can see a black piece of metal where the pegs and controls would normally be. That's the Arlen Ness 3" extension. Attached to that is the new forward control that integrates the peg and the shifter (and the peg, master cylinder and brake on the other side). The forward controls push everything forward another 1-3/4" or so. I have a 33" inseam (give or take), and I don't have much of a bend in my knee when I'm using the controls. I can still rest my heels on the pegs, but my legs are straight out at that point.
