I have several windshields for my Heritage. Stock, lower than stock and higher than stock; but I almost always use the one that is almost even with my eyes when I'm sitting up. I like being able to just see over the top of the windshield. There's some good U Tube videos on how to measure for your best height.
My quick detach sits right at about eye level, but I usually slouch down when I ride and I usually don't have the windshield on, haha.
If it's murder cold out, I appreciate every inch of that shield and tuck down behind it. Can look over it if need be.
Mostly, though, I don't use the shield and use this if I want wind protection for my work commute. Long highway rides - the windshield is a no brainer.
Wow. A six year old thread with life! haha I don't even notice my wind shield when riding. But quickly notice when its off!!! Mine is about at eye level and rarely ride without it.
Look over it, not through it. I got caught in a serious rain storm in my Ultra last year. It had a taller shield on it that I had to look through. The rain made the screen impossible to see through. I landed up looking around the thing to see. Since then, I always make sure I can see over it.
I agree with what most of these guys are saying about windshield height. Mine is a lower profile and it sits pretty much right at my eye level. The air blast coming over the top of it keeps crap outta my face and I can slouch slightly to look through it, but I can also easily look over the top of it. I wasn't sure that I would like the top edge where it is, but it's a perfect height for me - right at my eye level.
this is an old thread. To answer your question the stock removable shield for a deluxe is nice but there is some buffeting. If you add the chrome lowers from Harley the buffeting is gone. Keep in mind that they will tell you that the lowers won't work on the deluxe, don't believe it. I just installed some on mine and they work like a champ.
