removed mine last spring(added spacer for 250 tire)..read the manual with the out primary cover off, and just refer to the bike as your reading. Get a 12 pack of beer and have fun, its not bad at all..
Ya'll just remember....What your are talking about here is only part of what has to come off to replace a rear drive belt. You also have to drop rear wheel and the swing arm...So get ready for some serious sticker shock when belt replacement time rolls around which is why I miss having a rear drive chain. Chain replacement was quick and easy.
***'on did any body read the experience this guy has?
if you can build the tranny for your truck you can do the inner primary & a lot more to your hd than you think you can!!!
it is not that bad just remember the tourque wrench. good luck post pics..
My step 1 would be: Keep it stock... or... have money to pay someone else.... i don't envy you on that one.... I'd need more than alcohol to get thru that one!

LOL, you got that right. Totally missed it. Rebuilding an auto tranny is the only job I've never considered doing myself. Watched my brother do one once. Ball bearings and springs popping out of everywhere. I don't think he ever got that thing to work right.
