Default Larosa Seat Problems, Any suggestions ?

Hello folks,
As some of you may know, I had a terrible experience with Larosa guys (also known as panhandle choppers on ebay), I bought a spring seat and a kit from them last fall.
  • The seat came without the spring Kit.
  • Then they shipped me the wrong kit (I bought the 2000+ kit and they shipped the 99 kit).
  • I did ship them back the kit, Winter is here, bike into storage, we'll think about this over winter.
Now Summer is here, I buy a nice Seat Cover kit, and it WOULD NOT fit on any softail that has a frame cover, not unless you pump the seat up so high because the Mount Studs are at such an angle and length they hit the base (as you see in the pictures).

Look how the stud heads are hitting the frame ?! unless you mount the seat high and then have it look like s..t !

After many attempts of contacting them, all I get is "What is your number" ? I give them the number, no one calls, and then they suggest I do not know how to mount it.

I tried everything, and worst off, in trying to force it in, I did put nylon nuts , guess what, I can not take the nylon nut out, it actually brings the Studs out of the seat (great manfucturing too).

I got a much cheaper seat on ebay and it fits like a charm, because it is not curved all the way where the studs are as they do in larosa .

I have no idea what to do now ? what do you suggest ?.

Thanks Man for the post,
Problem is in my case (01 Softail), I do have to use an aftermarket cover,
because of the curve they use, only their mounting T-bar would work, and I need the bolts.

The angles are just wrong for any other Softail (other than cross bones again because of the way they angle the cover.

But they sell them as 'will fit Harley Softails etc...", that is my biggest problem, they advertise fully knowing that it does not fit.

I am just scratching my head, how to warn others from buying those seats, I figured this post is my best way.

I will post on other V-Twin forums, the level of dishonesty and the way they respond back is just shameful.

Would it fit without your aftermarket cover? If so, then they haven't advertised in a misleading manner. When dealing with aftermarket or even factory custom parts not everything is going to work with everything else.

Not defending them as I had some timely delivery/lost your order problems with them, but if the seat will fit a stock bike ....

Do you need the cover? Try it without the cover and if it fits and looks good then you can make a cover out of leather if you really want one. Just an idea. Or you could try to re-tap the holes so you can use a wider, shorter bolt. Just by looking at it either a 3/8 or 1/2 long bolt w/ 3/8 threads should work and not hit the cover. Hope this helps. Good Luck

Oh without the cover the bolts go straight through to the battery cables area touching the frame,
I used the cover in the pictuers to illustrate how redicilous it is made !.
The thing is .. if you want to make it work, then you need to put spacers under the front mount to pop the seat up an inch, and you have a redicilous looking seat AND you can't tie down the springs then.

And if you look at the first picture, you realize it is impossible for this seat to fit both the front and rear ?!

Unless I replace all their bolts.

I am not the welding/tapping type, I sent them an email before buying the seat, telling them I have an 01 FXST and that I saw on here a guy who couldn't fit it onto his night train, they assured me that the seat works fine and that they mount on softails fine with their kit (which did not work and you can see the pictures in a separate thread before they sent one of their friends to attack me here and call me names until the admins suspended the thread).

And when I faced them with that, I get ... mm.. NOTHING !.

I spent half the money on another seat and bracket that works like a charm, and I am thinking of putting this one on ebay and labeling it '****ty Larosa Seat does not fit softails" maybe then I can help others avoid them.

I've seen way too much junk from LaRosa!!!! I have a solo bag from them on my night train and it won't hold it's shape at all. Looks like ****!! I've got it off right now trying to figure out a way to reinforce it so it'll hold it's shape. I won't buy anything else from them ever. They have cheap prices on most of their stuff, because it's built cheap. I would advise every one to stay away from their products too.

Chop On,
Robert

So you start a thread about a Larosa seat that doesn't fit, you post pics of it not fitting, ask for suggestions and when suggestions are given you dont want them. I dont see why re-tapping and replacing all the bolts is such a big deal, it will take 10 minutes tops. I understand the frustration of not having something fit like it should BUT isn't that a risk we all take when we start customizing our bikes? I also understand the horrible customer service chalk it up as a lesson learned and dont buy from them again. If you really want the seat to work then a 5 minute re-tap and change of the bolts is all it will take, the way I see it there are 2 options make the seat work or sell it. This is just my .02... Good luck
