Default Mounting Hard bags on softail with quick release brackets?

Is this safe to do? A friend has a Heritage and wants to get hard bags for it. He hates the bagger tail from softbrake. If he used his quick detach brackets and the lower support that connects to the rear foot peg hole, would that be sufficient to support the hard bags with a light load? I have never seen this done, but that does not mean squat.

Thanks. What kind of b rackets are you going to use? Are you going to use the lower mount as well?

I want a report once it has been done. Pics too. When you say sissy bar mount I assume you mean on the struts. Are you planning on using lower brackets like the ones found on a heritage too?

No bottom bracket, I believe the two top mounting holes on the sportster bracket will
be sufficent enough to bolt to the detachable side plate on my FLSTN to hold the bags
securely.
