Default Oil Temps

I am burning up. Riding an 09 Deluxe here is South Texas and the last couple of weeks have been pretty hot but not what we will get. I am getting between 220 and 245 on the oil temp guage and am wondering if this is in the range of the rest of the bikes out there? I have ordered an Xied hoping that will help the lean running hot mother

Let me know what temps you guys are seeing and what mods you have with the data.

thanks,

Normal riding at highway speeds probably around 205 degrees. Stuck in stop and go traffic, can get up to 265. I'd be surprised if the XIEDs make a significant difference in temp. My IEDs didn't.

I think you are fine. Got rid of my temp dipstick and I have a lot more peace of mind now. It just drove crazy wondering if it was too hot, hot enough, you get the idea.

I don't think the temp gauge is all that important, but I have to admit I do like the data it offers. I prefer it to be at 200-220. I've got a pcIII, bassani 2:1, and a ness air cleaner. I had it dynoed last month and it pulled really hard afterward, but I felt that the bike was too hot for my liking. So I took the dynoed map and added fuel in the cruising ranges. I left the WOT columns alone so it will still haul ****. If I'm in stop and go traffic it will get 250 or better. Jimmers, did the IEDS not help with head temps at all?

That's about my normal temp range, too. Running the SE Stage 1 A/C, PCV mapped by FuelMoto, and Freedom duals. It has been warm here lately -- 80s - 90s.

That is the temperature that my 2007 rides at. I usually am not too concerned about the oil temperature it gets changed rather regularly. The temperature on my thigh was too hot, so I got some heat deflectors. They help just a little. design flaw. There are the no more fried thighs, but they are too expensive for me at this time.

Would be nice to be able to win some just like the floor board extenders. Hint hint, hint

I think you are fine though you might want to look into a oil cooler.
If I remember it right up to 250 is ok over 250 should be avoided for longer periods of time.

Didn't measure head temp, only going by oil temp. No perceptible change.

Oil coolers are a good idea unfortunately they dont work while sitting in traffic. You need air flow for the oil cooler to work like its supposed to. With my fan kit the motor will stay cool in the heaviest traffic jam. The fans put out 84 CFM and are water and dust proof. Check out my web site.
Thanks Milan
