Need Help Installing Rack???
I would like some of your methods for installing a rack on my Heritage Classic please? I was trying to install Part #P/N 53944-03 last night and no way could I get everthing lined up. Those things behind the fender are a pain how do you handle them not falling out and lining up the rack and the sissy bar? There must be a secrete to this. It doesn't even appear that the bolts that came out of the fender are long enought to go back with the rack but it does not say you need any extra parts. Let me know how this works please?

Try doing 2 bolts at a time.
I assume you are talking about the plates behind the fender? I've never looked at them, but seen them referenced in pictures.
If you take out the 2 bolts at the seat side of the fender, and put the rack on tightened loosly, then the back 2, you shouldn't lose the plate.
Once everything is finger tight, you can tighten up and align it. There shoudn't be much wiggle room.
Don't forget the locktite.

Thanks Ruhbarb...I will look into both your suggestions and see what happens. Why someone could not have come up with those things on the inside of the back fender to be fastened solid I'll never understand. All they do is hold the bolts in the fender why are they made to just drop out[:@]
