Used my windshield once before selling. I got a roll bag for the bars on long trips.

Well now, I wouldn't go as far as climbin in myself, I was thinkin more along the lines of throwing the rope down in so he can get out!

I agree, a Fatty looks better without but I found a very small removable screen made by a company called Slipscreen. Its small enough that most people don't even notice it but because of the way it shaped I can smoke a cigar doing 50 MPH. Its on the FatBoy in the picture. It also comes off with just a pull.

Just came back from a 2 hour ride out in the country.
Honestly can't imagine riding on the highways or evening without one.
I actually get a real kick out of listening to the 'real biker's' who wouldn't be seen dead behind a shield...
Here's my take: I ride because I love to. I use a shield because without it, riding here in Canada at night or on the highway is not fun. Maybe our bugs are bigger but easily I can count a thousand of them on the shield from tonights ride. Without the shield they would be on my face. Only a moron or someone completely caught up in the 'biker image' can tell me it would have been more enjoyable without it.

Does the bike look better without the shield? Yes.
Do I look better without bug guts smeared on my face? Yes.
Do I give a flying ***** what the 'biker's think of my using a shield? No.

Why do you think the dresser's have a shield? Because it is more comfortable on a long trip and makes a long trip more enjoyable.
In my opinion, someone who leaves the car at home and uses their bike to tour cross country, loaded with the necessary gear is much more of a 'biker' than someone who is worried how they look.
Just saying...

I use one also. Bike looks cooler without one but sure makes trips more comfortable. I put a windshield bag on it to hold my cell phone and some other things. Easy to take off but I seldom do unless I am cleaning it
