Used bike eval question

Used bike eval question
I found what appears to be a good deal on a used bike. The bike has only 450 miles on it (2007 model).
I plan on riding it and running it through the gears. However, my question is: what negative effects will not riding the bike have that I may not be able to see.
Or, if it starts fine and runs well am I fairly safe? I do think I will change the fluids at 500 even though it calls for 1000 because I don't trust the fluids setting up for that long.
Advice????
