You have two options, the easier of the two involves unscrewing the polished plug with the 3/8" hex. That plug can be found immediately to the inboard rear side of the cover you just replaced.

how much do i put in? is there a marker it needs to go to.
i take it the other way is to take of the top tranny cover and pour it in?

It has a dipstick to tell you how full it is. The tranny. Yeah, goes right along with the last couple of posts. A tranny's dipstick? D'oh!

Yeah, that's the one. As mentioned already the dipstick will let you know when it's full. If you had the bike on the sidestand to replace the cover you probably only lost a couple of ounces.
