06 Heritage Factory Exhaust Crossover

06 Heritage Factory Exhaust Crossover
I've done a search, but I can't find exactly what I'm looking for.
Does the crossover tube on the factory 06 Heritage (or other softail staggered exhaust - I think they're all the same?) attached at the head pipes, or on the slip on mufflers? I think it's attached at the mufflers, but I'm not sure.
However the crossover is attached, would it also be the same for 00-05 staggered exhaust as well?
I'm looking to change out the exhaust on my Fatboy to the staggered style on the Heritage. In searching for the older SE II slip ons, I'm finding that some of the SE II's have a crossover, and some don't. Just trying to make sure everything matches up. Thanks.
