1984 Softail coming to the barn...
Hey guys,
I made an offer on a 84 Softail......almost completely stock and a one owner....the guy I a buying from bought it new in KC in 1984.
Anything I should be concerned about before I make the move? Hybrid Evo-Shovel....reliability...parts availability etc?

I had an 84 and the only problem I was aware of for that year was they were a little tight on clearance between the top of the piston and the valves. If you got a little too much carbon build-up it would start to make contact. They stuck a little flatter piston in mine and problem was gone with no noticeable effect on performance. Being the bike is as old as it is I'm sure that is not an issue for it.
It was a great bike wish I would have kept it.
Been looking for another 84. I miss the chain and kicker. If you decide to get rid of it let me know.
