Default Transmission shifting

I just got my 1000 mile service and added all synthetic oil. When I had gotten about 30 miles from dealer I noticed that the bike would not shift into 5th gear even though the foot shifter indexed the same stroke. Has anyone had a similar experience? I called the dealer and asked if they adjusted shift linkage and they said they would not have adjusted it unless there was a problem. It will be awhile before I can get back to dealer. Any HELP???? Thanks

make sure the heel shifter is tight and the bolt goes through the notch, mine came loose a couple weeks ago and it was hell getting in any gear, my heel shifter now lives with the fishes and a purdy chome cover is in its place

Had a similar problem on my '02 Fat Boy where it would sorta hang between gears and the shifter would just sort of flop around. I don't go to my local HD dealer because they're idiots, but I went to the local bike repair place that does all my work. From what I recall they took things apart, sanded down a shaft and then lubed and put it back together. Fixed it nicely and no problems a few thousand miles later.
