Hey Guys and Gals,
I am new and would just like to say how helpful this site has been to me browsing over the past 2 months learning all that I can! Here's the deal I just purchased a 2008 Softail Deluxe and will begin modding soon. My first step will be Vance and Hines True Duals with Fish Tail End Caps, a Race Tuner, Dyno tuned of course, Nostalgic Air Cleaner Cover. My indecision is between the Screaming Eagle Air Intake(NOT heavy breather) or the Arlen Ness Big Sucker. I have been told so many conflicting things from numerous individuals and I am just trying to figure out which is the better of the two and which will deliver better and more reliable performance. Thanks for bearing with me, any input/help would be greatly appreciated!
Congrats on the new bike. Can't help with the question. Got a SE with me in my truck to put on when I get home. I got mine more so that I could put a round AC cover on than for performance but I'm sure after I re jet with the pipes I'm running it will make a difference.
i was helping my friend work on his bike and saw he had the AN backing plate and all that. looked 100% the same as my SE backing plate for the air filter, like said above get the one you can get the cheapest, i went with SE only cause I got a deal on the parts
The heavy breather sure looks good though. even better in person. I get alot of compliments on that breather with my deluxe...but out of the 2 you are talking about i would go with the ness it comes with a better filter K&n but i could be wrong. because i dont own one.

sorry that air cleaner does not belong on a deluxe....old style round to match the retro look of the deluxe..but its your ride
