Intermittent hard shifting
Hey all,
Its my first Softail - 06 Heritage...
Noticed for the first time yesterday, (had a passenger on), bike was nice and hot, that it was harder to shift for about 10 shifts or so....then things went back to normal again...not sure why?Been ok since. Oil levels are all good and so are all chains...
Anyone else ever get this?
I also didnt know that these bikes are this fast! I started winding out the gears a little, and my twincam88 with pipes will get to over 80km/h in 3rd gear!
Cool.
Anyway, anyone ever get a temperamental tranny thing I mentioned?

Change the oil in the tranny with one of the brand name synthetics like Amsoil, royal purple, of Mobile 1. Use 75/90W or if you live in one of the hotter parts of the country try using 90/140W instead.
Also make sure your clutch is properly adjusted.
Then just to cover all the bases make sure the shifter pedal pivot point and the shift rod ends are clean and well lubricated.
That should get rid of your problem and make the tranny shift smoother and operate quieter to boot.
