Need help with 94 fatboy/softail dash switch

I bought a new dash or console for my 94 fatty because the one on there was some aftermarket junky looking full dash so i put the new one on but the switch isnt flush with the hole,is there suppost to be some kind of shims under the switch or shims under the lower dash frame?please if anyone can help.

My buddy has a 94 FB and two winters ago we stripped the tins off for a custom paint job. When it came time to put everything back together, we had the exact same problem with the ignition switch being too low. We tried and tried to figure out how that happened when we didn't even remove the switch in the first place. We gave up trying to figure out why and just shimmed up the switch with some nuts under the switch and used longer mounting screws. It has been fine ever since. Just shim it and be done with it.

Thats exactly what i wound up doing i shimmed it and its fine now,thanks for your input i appreciate it.

My Drag Spec switch had different mounts on it when I put it in. Then then I put the 6 gal tanks on it moved the dash up further and was really off. Just had to put spacers in to level it all out.
