Default Electrical Question

So i took off the HUGE turnsignals off my bars last night. And now my rear turnsignals don't blink they just stay lit. i am guessing that it won't blink mnow cause the circuit is not complete with the other blinkers off. Any ideas? And if i need to put some type of blinkers up front what would you guys suggest using rather then those big *** blinkers.

They don't blink because there isn't enough of a load in the circuit to trigger the flasher.
Ford used to use the same cuircuit setup to give the driver a warning that one of the bulbs had failed.
You can get away without the front turns if you replace them with a load resistor like those used for LED lights. PS a LED load equilizer should work but it would be better (safer?) if you just got a small set of aftermarket lights instead.
I don't know what the state DOT regualtions say about it where you live are. But most require you to retain some form of turn signal on any vehicle that either came from the factory with them or were made after some specified date, sometime in the 70's I think.

Did you use the ones that hang below the grips or ones that were like flushmounts. I really don't like the ones that hang below the grips i want my bars to be as clean as i can get them. and kind of hide the turn signals. Any ideas. Thanks for the update about the load resister and lights.

They are in NY though on any bike manufactured after 1985

I just looked it up on maryland (where I live) and there is no law on having turnsignals. But I was going to get a load equalizer any way so the back ones will blink. Are they complicated to install or is it pretty much a quick thing.

Why not remove the rear blinkers as well?

You can get the mirrors that have turn signals built in. This way you can easily tie the wire in and get rid of the "big" turn signals.

There are two different kind. One is plug and play using the stock harness plugs, and the second that uses quick taps to splice into the existing wires.

Personally I would suggest you stick with the plug in types for two reasons. One they are simple as hell to install and completely foolproof, and second your question alone leads me to believe that fooling with the electrical system in an in depth way might not be the best idea.

No offence but I don't think you want to be playing around in there until you learn a bit more about how the the electrical systems work. Or might not if you do something wrong.
