Hey there Springer owners, has anyone experienced there rear tire slip when taking a corner? Checked the tire pressure and it was right on. It had rained earlier in the day but road seened dry. It happened twice today, once on the way home for lunch and once on the way back. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
A few years back I crashed on a mountain road at night. Even on the ground I couldn't see anything to make me lose traction. The next day I was able to see some fine black sand that breaks off from the cold pack they use to repair the roads.
Grated Road, painted line? I have not slipped on anything that I shouldn't slip on, like gravel, sand, painted lines and I seem to wander but not slip on grated roads.
Not yet on my Bones but we have one corner on an exit ramp when I go home that is always slippery, even dry. My Sporty has lost traction a couple of times. Could it be a high traffic area with a stop? They tend to build up some road grime.
Debris, oil or other liquid, road lines, and rain are the likely candidates. Also consider tire temp. Cooler tires are more slippery and can give out if you push them too far too fast. Give them a few miles to heat up.
only had that happen once and not on my harley, was comming to a stop sigh after about 40 miles of freeway on the offramp the rear tire just stepped out had both front and rear brake applied slightley so let off to try and straighten it up was almost stopped befor it finally laid down , went back and looked for the reason nothing to be seen except fresh paint on a turn arrow, maybe ?????
When my last rear tire started to wear, it felt like my rear end was sliding around corners. It got really squirrelly. I looked at the tread and the wear was uneven and the tire was cupping a little. Maybe it's time for a new tire?
