First good advice here is lyndall's. It does sound very soon. Learn to use the front brake as well. The front brake provides most of your stopping power. I use the z plus pads and they last a long time.

My rear pads were completely shot at 10K - super easy DIY replacement.

Rear tire going strong at 14K; hopful I can make it thru the summer.

Thanks for the advice guys. I actually do use the front brake primarily (more pressure)but use them both in almost every stop. It seems that only the outside rear pad is overly worn-after looking at it better. The inside is still in good shape. I will take it in this week to get an understanding of the uneven wear and questionable performance.

If they replace under warrenty then HD brakes - if not i will go lyndall.

i had the uneven wear also on the stock pad. just be sure to clean the pistons when you replace the pads and i also too the time to replace the fluid. http://www.lyndallracingbrakes.com/service_tech.htm

I replaced my stock pads at 8500 miles to get rid of the brake squeal. I used the lyndal gold pads and was pretty happy until this weekend. The gold pads are now squealing. If you are going to lyndal pads, use the Z+ pads. I missed the post that these are the ones that don't squeal.

My rear pads are down, and have grooved the disc....5100 miles 2008 softail
That doesn't sound normal...although I may be over using the rear brake ....surely not that much.
I pretty much use the front/back simultaneously. I will start to rely more on the front.
Back to the dealer this week...better be under warranty...ya think?

Thanks all

they wont warranty unless there is a defect in the part and most will tell you no but if the dealer cares they should reach agreement with you even if free labor only

If you've got a groove in your rotor, it needs to be replaced.
