Default Installing Power Commander V on an 09 Fat Boy

OK,

Who has installed a Power Commander V on an 07 - 09 Fat Boy?

The install instructions are wrong, there dont seem to be any correct instructions, and the tech at fuelmoto says he cant help me.

They imply that you have to move the ECM up and over top of the nuts that hold
the seat strap, and that you will not be able to use them after.

Well guess what? Those same nuts hold the seat on, so if I install it the way they say to I'll have to forgo the luxury of having a seat on my bike

Try a search for the install of a pcV. Plenty of people have done it. Here ya go.

They don't fit. If you talk to Jamie at Fuelmoto, he will set you straight. That's why I bought my TTS and love it. I feel bad for you if you dished out all that cash and actually bought one. I don't want to jab a screwdriver in your back and make you feel bad. Almost all of us have thrown good money after bad money.

I had seen about 20 rediculous pictures of a PC-V that had been installed on a newer Fatty and it was awful. The ECM was turned sideways and velcrowed to the fender. It looked SO WRONG. Get the TTS, SEST, SERT, or Thundermax or read-up on some of the threads on here to see what other guys are using. tk353 will be along shortly to tell you about his Thundermax (haha, just kidding you there guy), and he loves it and it's working great for him. Any HD dealer with a dyno will be able to dial-in the SEST or SERT.

I ALMOST bought the PC-V until I started researching it. Apparently it fits fine on lots of other SoftTails, but not our beloved Chubbies!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. JR

Actually, you brought me good news, not bad.

Reading your own thread on the subject, it looks like Tonov12 has the perfect solution.

He just turned the ECM sideways and problem solved.

You didn't seem to care for that solution, although I cant for the life of me figure out why.
Looks perfectly good to me.

The ECM is just a teeny little computer chip inside a big square housing.
It doesnt give a good crap about being sideways.

Its velcro'd to the fender in either case. Thats what the softtail installation instructions actually
TELL you to do. They even provide the velcro. All you are doing is rotating it 90 degrees.

Here is a direct quote from Dynojet's install instructions

"Using the supplied velcro secure the ECM to the rear fender."

Whats the big deal?

I have not ordered a PC V yet, but now I'm going to

The 09 Fatboy is the only model with PC-V fitment issues due to changes they made on this bike which does not leave enough room under the seat although there are ways to fit them on this bike for those who dont mind being a bit creative. The PC-V mounts just fine on the 08 and earlier Fatboy and we have sold and installed many of them. If anyone has any install questions just give us a call.

Is your Uncle's bike a FatBoy or another softail? I've heard the only problem is with the FatBoy, and not so much with others.
